well, obviously you will need some swiming lessons. But I would highly suggest (if you can) sigining up for fewer widly spaced lessons and then getting a membership at a jym (or even cheeper, an outdoor pool at a rec center) to practice. If you can get in the water every few days, and do brest stroke and crawl for half an hour or so, it really builds up on what you learn. I have to admit, I don't swim like a brick. wehn I was young, the town swimimg pool offered childrens group lessons for cheep. Me and my

oops, clicked too soon... anyway, me and my sibs were all signed up for a few years. I got all the way to basic life guarding before I stopped.

Too bad you're not here in Andover; I'd be glad to teach you how to swim. And for free! There's the kicker. Bah...still wish you lots of luck, though! I'm sure you'll be fine, with enough determination.

I swim fantastically. I was put in lessons at 8 months old and spent the first 12 years of my life submerged. Heh. Anyways, what I would suggest is looking for a local YMCA or community center. Sometimes they offer free or at least dirt cheap lessons.
